How to check USDC on Ethereum Mainnet

USDC is available on several networks. Here’s how to find the network your transfer used and check the balance if it’s on Ethereum Mainnet.

Your address starts with 0x. You can check it without connecting your wallet.

Where did the USDC arrive?

  1. Open the USDC balance in your wallet and look for the network name. Ethereum Mainnet, Base, and Arbitrum can all show the same wallet address.
  2. If you sent the USDC from an exchange, open the withdrawal details to find the network and transaction hash.
  3. Search for the hash on a block explorer for that network. Open the token transfer and compare the recipient and token contract with what you expected.

You can compare the contract with Circle’s list of USDC contracts. If the transfer is on Ethereum Mainnet, enter the recipient’s public wallet address in the checker above. If it’s on another network, view the balance in your wallet on that network.

Can I use ETH on Base or Arbitrum for Ethereum gas?

ETH on Base or Arbitrum can’t pay gas for a transfer on Ethereum Mainnet. The same wallet address can appear on each network, but it has a separate balance on each one.

Switch your wallet to Ethereum Mainnet and check the ETH balance there. If you’re withdrawing ETH from an exchange to pay for a Mainnet transfer, check that the withdrawal network says Ethereum Mainnet before you send it.

If your ETH is already on another network, switching networks in your wallet only changes which balance you see. Moving ETH between networks requires a separate transfer through a bridge or another service that supports both networks. Read Ethereum’s guide to bridges.

Why does my USDC balance show zero or unavailable?

No USDC balance means the checker read the Ethereum Mainnet balance for that address and found zero for the USDC contract we check. If you expected a balance, compare the recipient address in the transfer with the address you entered, then check that the network is Ethereum Mainnet.

Balance unavailable means the checker couldn’t get a balance from Ethereum at that moment. Try again later, or look up your public wallet address on Etherscan and check its token holdings. You can do this without connecting your wallet or signing a message.
