Ethereum transfer guide
Ethereum transaction pending, failed, or missing?
Before sending USDC again, open the transfer in your wallet and look for a transaction hash. Search for it on the block explorer for the network you used, then match the result below.
Look up an Ethereum Mainnet transaction
Copy the transaction hash from your wallet’s activity or your exchange’s withdrawal details. The field below builds an Etherscan link in your browser. If you used another network, open that network’s explorer instead.
A transaction hash starts with 0x and has 64 hex characters after it. A wallet address has 40.
No hash, or the explorer can’t find it
Your wallet can reject a transfer for insufficient funds before broadcasting it. If you have a hash, search on the block explorer for the network you used. An Ethereum Mainnet explorer cannot show a transfer sent on Base. A wallet can also display a hash before a public explorer sees it, so check the original wallet’s activity before retrying.
Pending
The explorer has seen the transaction and it is waiting to enter a block. If the wallet offers a speed-up or cancel action, review that option in the original wallet. Sending a separate transfer can move the funds twice if both transactions confirm.
Failed or reverted
The transaction reached a block and its changes were reverted. The failed transaction can still cost ETH in gas. Open its details and check the failure reason before trying again.
Succeeded, but USDC is missing
Open the token transfers in the transaction details and compare the recipient and amount. A token approval can succeed without moving USDC. If the correct transfer appears, check that the receiving wallet displays the same network and the correct USDC contract.
If the transfer shows the right recipient and contract on Ethereum Mainnet, check the recipient’s current USDC balance. If the recipient was an exchange deposit address, check the exchange’s deposit history for credit to your account.
Why does a USDC transfer show 0 ETH?
The explorer’s Value field shows the ETH sent with the transaction. A USDC transfer can show 0 ETH there because the USDC moves through its token contract. The network fee is listed separately.
- Check that the transaction succeeded on the network you used.
- Open the token transfers and look for USDC. Compare the recipient, amount, and USDC contract address on Ethereum Mainnet.
- If there’s no matching token transfer, check what the transaction actually did. A successful token approval can show 0 ETH without moving any USDC.
USDC still in your wallet and short on ETH?
If the transfer never went through, use your public wallet address to check whether your Ethereum USDC qualifies for a sponsored rescue.
